RO&SHA

Ro and Sha fabrics are loosely woven from the very fine silk thread and are transparent and airy. It is a woven fabric with a refreshing feel that regularly shows gaps and can be worn as a summer kimono without lining.

Since it is difficult for Sha to beautifully dye delicate patterns such as the Yuzen pattern, it is said that Ro was born with a plain weave in the middle.

Ro fabric Horizontal and vertical lines are shown by the gaps in the weave, created by braiding pairs of threads over one central thread. Patterns and designs are resist dyed after weaving, typically using stencils. Sometimes Ro kimonos are hand painted and embroidered.

Ro has less transparent parts than Sha and is used as a standard summer item from formal to casual.

Sha fabric Horizontal and vertical lines are shown by the gaps in the weave, created by braiding pairs of threads over one central thread. Patterns and designs are resist dyed after weaving, typically using stencils. Sha is used in the hottest months of July and August and has a casual image.
